Bularian Federation of Radio Amateurs (BFRA) is a non-profit organization that is performing socially significant activities for development of technics, technology, physical culture and sports.
BFRA was founded in 1970 as a successor of:
- Bulgarian radioclub (founded in 1926)
- Amateur Radio Committee (founded in 1947)
- Central radioclub (founded in 1951)
As of 1991 BFRA is officially registered as a non-profit organization according to respective Bulgarian regulatory framework.
BFRA is also member of International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) - a statute that allows it to establish liaison between the international organization and local Communications Regulation Commission (CRC).
